The May meeting for GWAPA was held at the home of Doug Gross, in Takoma Park, MD. The guest speaker was Becca Goldring. There was a good turnout, around 20 people, pretty good considering it was memorial day weekend. Decent size auction as well. It was so nice out that much of the meeting people were eating and talking in Doug’s beautiful back yard. We even had the auction on his back patio. More »
The March GWAPA meeting was held at Joshua wiegurt’s home/business in Silver Springs MD. Joshua is the owner, operator of Batfish Aquatics, which specializes in unusual, rare, and quality aquarium fishes, aquarium plants, and other animals. He has quite an impressive set up of over 300 aquariums. On top of that he is very active in many of the local aquarium clubs. He is a member of PVAS, CCA, GWAPA, Aquarium Club Lancaster County, Cichlid Club York, American Cichlid Association, American Killifish Association, American Livebearer Association and the Raleigh Aquarium Society to name a few.

Robert T Ricketts 55 Gallon Low-Maintenance Tank Substrate: Plenum based with mixed Estes' Nutmeg and Flourite Filtration: Two internal Eheims for mechanical filtration, plus a prefiltered external Eheim 2213 for bio. Lighting: 1-Two-tube strip light, 1 single-strip light. 12 hours/day. Plants: Val, Crinum, Anubias nana and a couple of other small nana cultivars, A. nana petite, Marimo balls, and Java Moss Fauna: school of glass cats, a school of Debaui cats, Otos, one male cherry Barb, Amano and Red Cherry shrimp, ramshorn and common pond snails.
