April 2018 Meeting

The April 2018 meeting was held a Ghazanfar Ghori’s house in Brambleton, VA.

Nearly 30 people were there to admire Ghazanfar’s beautiful aquariums, hear an interesting talk by Vin Kutty, and, as usual, socialize with other members and take part in a large plant auction.

Kutty’s talk was about what keeps some plants from growing, and what makes other grow well.  Could it be too much or too little micro-nutrients?  Too many nutrients in the water, or too many in the soil?  And so on and so on.  Kutty had done many experiments with plants to try to determine the answers to his questions.  Without going into details about each variable he considered, his results were that different plants can have quite different requirements.
