As I develop my knowledge in plant growth I realized that I dont know what plants I have and what other plants look like. I was hoping someone could suggest a good website or book with photos of the plants with their names.
Thanks
Rob

www.aquaticplantcentral.com has a decent plant guide. Click on the "Plant Finder" link at the top of the page.
Good ID books are hard to come by. Aquarium Plants by Cristel Kassellman is a good one to start with. Lots of technical info if you like that sort of thing.

NOTE: I am very new to aquatic plants.
Two books from Kasselmann -- Aquarium Plants and Planted Aquariums. See below for descriptions from Amazon.com.
Planted Aquariums (PA) is a much abreviated version of Aquarium Plants (AP). PA is very good for beginners giving you solid guidance in the basics. Whereas, AP is comprehensive.
CAUTION: Make sure if you are buying used over the internet that you are buying the english translation of the AP book.
Planted Aquariums: Creation and Maintenance
by Christel Kasselmann (Hardcover - July 12, 2005)
$33.50 on Amazon.com
Book Description
160 pages.
Planted Aquariums: Creation and Maintenance starts with a discussion of light, soil, and water requirements for keeping plants in aquariums. The next chapter gives the reader guidelines for choosing the right plants for their tanks. The major portion teaches how to plan for, purchase, and install plants in the aquarium. There is a detailed section that is useful for someone who just wants to put a few hardy plants into a small tank as well as for the serious hobbyist aiming to create a show tank. Sections on plant care, water quality, problem solving, and fish in planted aquariums round out the picture. A special section on Dutch and Japanese planted tanks provides a wider perspective. "Hands on" information is available for hobbyists who want their tanks to shine. Although the book is comprehensive, the beginner can learn how to create and maintain a simple tank or a more complex one.
Aquarium Plants
by Christel Kasselmann, Ulf Kotlenga (Translator) (Hardcover - October 1, 2002)
$63.50 on Amazon.com BUT I think the publiher just changed the retail price to $55.00. Used copies in very good condition for $49.50
Book Description
528 pages
Translated from the popular 1999 revised German edition, this text describes the temperature, water, fertilizer, and light needs of more than 300 aquarium plants. Artificial lighting - lamp types, color temperatures, and mounting - is discussed in detail and the author provides advice on choosing the right plants for an aquarium. Ecological factors, flower biology and morphology, and reproduction methods receive detailed coverage. The book contains 525 color photographs with nearly all plants depicted with fully developed submerged foliage. Many of the photographs of rare plants were published for the first time in the German edition. Botanists as well as professional and amateur aquarium keepers will find this book indispensable.
