reMineralizing old aquasoil?

Post by FrannyB »

My aquasoil is about 2.5 yrs old. I've been adding Osmocote plus capsules ever since I started my Dutch scape earlier this year. Considering that it has been passed around that aquasoil ages and would need to be replaced, does anyone think a viable and less expensive option would be to remineralize it? What do you think?

Once you go Dutch you can't stop trimming.

I've got some rather old Aquasoil myself that still grows things wonderfully with dosing. I'm not sure how remineralizing it will do, but I'd think that you'd lose a lot of mass from the granules falling apart, than it would be worth doing. I pretty much keep it in the tank, unless it's turned totally to mud, then I scoop up just that section, and replace with fresh stuff. Of course, I don't bother with any of this unless I'm doing a full rescape...
