PAR meter recommendations

Post by chris_todd »

Does anyone in the club own a PAR meter, or can recommend a model of PAR meter? One that isn't several hundred dollars would be nice, but I'm mainly concerned with getting one that will work.

I want to measure how much light my fixtures are putting out at various distances from the bulbs, so I can start rearranging my orchids and carnivorous plants so they are getting optimal light. So yeah, I'll be using this mainly for terrestrial plants, but it would be nice if the PAR meter also had a water proof sensor for testing light levels in my fish tanks, too.

OK, if no one has any recommendations for a specific PAR meter, how about an ordinary light meter that would measure lumens?

Apogee MQ 200 seems to be the one mentioned most frequently on Plant and Reef forums.
