New Unidentified Fry

Post by jcali10 »

After doing a water change in my 10G CRS tank Sunday, I noticed some real tiny swimmers near the heater. I'm not sure what they are. The only fish in my CRS tank are 3 Otos, but 2 weeks ago, I removed the bolbitis from the CRS tank and replaced it with a huge Anubias nana from my 50G. The shrimp did a good job of cleaning up the Anubias. I'm guessing if they are not Oto fry, then the eggs must have sat unhatched for 2 weeks on the Anubias. Could eggs take 2 weeks to hatch?

I've shipped plants to people before and they later asked what fish I keep. It can happen. ;)

The last time I had fry they were Praecox Rainbows. It was the same situation, I moved a large chunk of moss from my 50 to the CRS tank and then they hatched.
They are either dwarf neon rainbows, lemon tetras or cherry barbs; will just have to wait and see.

Yeah, I once received a pair of Golden Wonder killifish on an anubias I picked up at a GWAPA auction. Cool fish that eventually won their class at Aquafest that year! :D

Rainbow eggs can take up to 15-20 days to hatch depending on the species...
It is not murder if you're killing snails.

I look in on the fry and CRS every day hoping to maybe see a berried shrimp and now too see if the fry are still alive. I feed them crushed flake food.

Belated Christmas Holiday wishes everyone. Well most of my fry are still alive. One of my fry babies is larger than the rest (about a half an inch so) and it appears to be a female cherry barb. So I will probably have 10 or 12 juvie cherry barbs to move out of my shrimp tank soon. I was hoping for more dwarf neon rainbows.

Guess what, while feeding the Cherry Barb fry and CRS, I decided to try and remove the biggest one, which I luckily succeeded doing. Now she is in the 50G with her relatives. I also noticed a berried female CRS. I haven't seen one of those since about June when I almost killed off half of them by overfeeding. I am happy again.
