liquid fertilizer for a tank with Flourite and Eco-Complete

i just planted all the plants i bought at todays auction, now i have mini riccia, utricularia graminifolia, LX lacustrus. i am wondering what liquid fertilizer do i need to keep these plants healthy, apart from the substrate i already have. do i need flourish, flourish nitrogen etc? please suggest something i can easily buy at a store as i am a beginner.

First thing to learn as a beginner. Shop online for the best deals, suggest group buys if shipping can be shared, and look for deals on shipping (eg http://www.bigalsonline.com/ right now has free shipping on orders over $75 excluding heavy items) Look at our sponsors towards the bottom of the forum such as Green Leaf Aquariums or http://www.aquariumfertilizer.com/

As for what you will need we need to know what lighting you have and whether or not you are using CO2 before we would recommend a dosing method.

just wanted to say hi to you all and introduce myself, I am Anil, 32 years old. i used to have an aquarium when i was a kid, and after a long break i got back into the hobby. i want to start a planted aquarium, right now i have a 20L with coralife power compact lighting with two 65 W bulbs, Hagen Aquaclear filter. i am using a whole bag of eco complete and half a bag of seachem flourite on top of eco complete. just started this setup a few weeks ago and put some fish in it. i guess pretty standard setup for planted aquarium, minus the CO2 which i am still researching. i am still researching on what plant i want to grow etc. thats the reason i joined this group in the first place. any advise regarding anything related to my setup or plants is greatly appreciated.

For what you bought, you don't need to worry about fertilizers yet, get that timer we told you about in your other post and start a daily light cycle of about 8 hours. Do you know how to use riccia? It is a nutrient sponge once it gets going so you will have to start feeding it at some point. Pretty much the easiest thing to do is get the basic ferts in the SeaChem line as just follows the bottle directions. You don't have anything that is particularly finicky so this should do to start.

yes i read about riccia, thats the reason why I wanted to know if i need to use any special liquid fertilizer to feed it. i am thinking of getting some seachem flourish, it seems to have all the basic elements to start with. i am putting together a yeast reactor for co2 as well.
quick question about riccia, i am trying to secure it to a piece of bog wood using a string but it keeps coming off, i dont really want it floating in my tank. you guys might have had some experience with it, any suggestions?

Anil, for Riccia, some folks have success using women's plastic hairnets wrapping the net around both the riccia and the stone. In a short time, the Riccia will grow through the net, hiding it.
