shrimp for low maint tank

Post by magsdez »

Actually, it's just a fish bowl that's a decorative piece. I have eco-complete substrate, marsila quadrafolia, anubis nana petite, a couple crypts, and some hygro agustafolia. It's on lights and yeast co2. No heater, so it stays in the upper 60's. I do weekly water changes. Could I keep any type of shrimp in there? Just something to help keep the bowl clean and something to look at. I was thinking red cherry shrimp. I have been sucessfully growing snails and there's a nice population. 8)
Thanks!

I keep red cherry shrimp in a 2.5 gallon. It has no heater, and temps get down to the low 60s but shrimp seem fine.

Sure, cherry shrimp are quite hardy. I've had them survive temperatures near into the 40's outside in my pond before I brought them in. Throw a couple in as a test first, and go from there.
