My Rainbow Tank

Post by rich_one »

Okay, some disclaimers first:

1. I know I have algae. I left it there on purpose, for the various algea eating creatures, all of whom eat different types of it. believe me... it was worse... this is much better, since I added these guys, and it is looking better everyday... I just figure it looked good enough to snap some pics finally.

2. I suck at taking pics... so this is the best I could.

3. I have no idea how to aquascape... this is just me planting plants wherever the wind blows towards me planting them. no artistic attempts whatsoever. so be gentle.

okay... enough disclaimers. now the pics...

That little Thomasi done grew up! I really sorta miss them, but they just get tooo big to attempt to keep shrimp with, or have a pair in with Rams...ended up going to live with Kevin here, who I know gave them a good home.

1) I've seen worse algae. Oh wait, I currently have worse algae. :D

2) Your photos are pretty good. They are pretty clear and there's no flash bouncing off the glass. Full tank shots just aren't easy to pull off.

3) Not everyone is into aquascaping. Learning to grow the plants well should be the first step anyhow. It looks to me like you have nice healthy plants so you're on the right track there.

One thing that might help with algae is to get a few more plants in there. The more plants there are the less available nutrients for the algae to thrive.

so far, they seem to only eat dead ones... from what I am seeing, anyway.

you know... I think I don't mind the algae so much... let's me know my algae eating inhabitants have plenty to eat, even with me having the algae wafers.

I always thought that at first too. Starting with more plants serves to balance the tank faster. When the plants do fill out you'll have plenty to share / trade.
