De-ionized water. DI water is water that has had its mineral ions removed by running it through a resin filter. We use it at work because additional chemicals can affect the results of our testing.
I use it primarily beacuse I have access to a 6-gallon carboy with spigot that conveniently sits on top of my tank (acrylic), so all I have to do is remove 6 gallons then turn on the tap. DI water doesn't need Prime or any chlorine remover, as the chlorine is already removed.
It probably should be "reconstituted" with NPK, but I'm so uncomfortable with the whole dosing thing, that I don't do it, which is probably partly why my aquarium is such a mess.
