Any reason it has to be within the stand and vertical? you could run it horizontally accross the back... With that kind of length to it and 2 chambers with a choke point in between that could work.

Well, don't technically have to, I guess.

I don't want a bleed valve :) If I keep this thing vertical and on the intake side of the pump, I don't need one.

Have you seen this article from the NJAGC by Sergio Canabal.
http://www.njagc.net/articles/inlineinstrumentation.htm
It may give you some ideas. You may want to auto dose one day. So if the piece with the Y and the plugged end was on the top instead of the bottom, it could be a port to introduce ferts.
Secondly, about bleed valves, I've read some forum posts about DIY reactors not working properly and some of the replies suggested it may take a little time for the gas to work its way out or dissolve. I may be missing the point; does the bleed valve have anything to do with priming the filter?

Exactly. When you hook them to a filter, a filter sometimes has problems pulling all of the air out.

I'm thinking that a pump that is running 3 times the volume of an XP3 will be able to do it, I hope...if not I'll be sticking a hose into the intake bulkhead to try and purge the air.

I saw Sergio's stuff, way cool, but a crazy build. :) Just hoping to get this thing operational - I can autodose into a bulkhead, not a luxury I think he had.

Dave,
What do you think about putting a Union in the middle. This will allow you to swivel the unit use Bio balls and service anything internally as well.

Making V2, figured out a way to make a dual chambered.

Not planning on bioballs, Kevin - this is definitely going on the intake side, and I don't want the hassle of knowingly putting something in there that'll catch debris.

Ran into an issue, maybe y'all know how to get around.

This MagDrive 9.5 is apparently supposed to have 1" minimum pipe - at least I think so, lost the frigging one page manual to a kitchen cleanup, it got circular filed, and what I find online says 1" min.... And the pump has 3/4" connections on the pump. Am I missing something???? How on gawd's green earth do you pull that happy crappy off?

Dave,
Just make sure you have straight pipe don't have any bends or curve for the first 10 in. I would call Magdrive if you really want the correct anwser. Otherwise just use a 3/4 to 1in coupling and go 1in the rest of the way.
