Bubble counters query

Post by FrannyB »

Has anyone used this type? If so, how does it connect? http://www.aquacave.com/co2-glass-blown ... -2867.html#

I need two bubble counters because I'm going to use diffusers this time. Can anyone recommend something? Or if I get that splitter that Damion just bought could I use just one?

Once you go Dutch you can't stop trimming.

if you get the splitter that DamiAn just bought u can use just one what? bubble counter?? but you will have two lines... you would need one bubble counter for each, unless im understanding wrong...

i don't have a bubble counter, and find no much need. i have though the spiral thing with the co2 diffuser, works well, so far no fish gasping! LOL

What tank size are you using these diffusers on? Are both diffusers going on a single tank?

I've never used that style BC but it must have a built in back flow device, so you just fill it with liquid and put it in line.

Tim

So you would need a splitter and dual bubble counters and dual or better diffusers, the 100 gallon may need more than one.

Hmm. What about just using a powerhead to circulate the C02 in the 100?

thats how i did with my 125. got good results though i didnt do full ferts and all the fancy stuff...

at one point i was thinking of doing a splitter just for the 125, i think is a good idea, one to a powerhead and one to the filter output or something

I like the diffuser (wood airstone) with a powerhead on my smaller tanks. On a big tank I would probably use an inline unit because I'm sure they dissolve the Co2 better. However, I hear that the CO2 corrodes filter parts like rubber seals and such, so it would be better to use the inline unit on a loop with a powerhead. I also stopped using them with my filters because the bubbles were making too much noise in the filter.

This is just one man's opinion, but I think diffusers are very inefficient and work ok on small tanks but on larger tanks don't deliver enough dissolved gas to be efficient. But it's really just a matter of you burning more gas and if it's a really high light tank you may not achieve the growth you want. So it's more of a trade off by not using a reactor or something more efficient but it will certainly has a positive effect on the plants and may be good in a low or medium light tank, good luck.
Sincerely,
Tim
