Sound like a foreign language?\u00a0At the\u00a0July 2009 meeting Cavan Allen\u00a0decoded\u00a0the technical side of the plants themselves, specifically the\u00a0genus Ludwigia. After the pre-meeting socializing and tour of Chris Todd and Amy Payne’s lovely collection of tanks, a few quick announcements and the fun began!<\/p>\n

July 2009: Chris & Amy's 75G<\/p><\/div>\n

First, Cavan gave us a\u00a0tour of the different plant characteristics, including leaf arrangement, margins, inflorescence, and stem characteristics were all\u00a0explained\u00a0painlessly for anyone to understand. Then details about the\u00a011 variants in the family, from Ludwigia arcuata to L. senegalensis\u00a0and even including the popular hybrids seen in nature and the hobby. Details about where each plant can be found, how they grow, and other handy tidbits of information abound with every slide. \u00a0Cavan is a wealth of information, and he generously shared with us as much as we had time for. If you’re ever curious about which plants would make a good salad, he’d also be the one to ask for that!<\/p>\n
