Seven people were brave enough
to drive to Leesburg, but the trip was worth it.
We got to see Ali Khans show tank as well as his fish room/garage in which he’s breeding several species of fish including Peacock gobies and apistos.
A lot of interest was expressed in the way he’s setup a single Ehiem 2213 to filter several 10G tanks.

Since John Magan wasn’t present, Ghazanfar Ghori was forced into recording the minutes of the meeting.

John Godby brought pictured of how his Aquatic Horticulture Study plants have been growing. Ghazanfar Ghori brought along a couple of the ‘Barclaya’ bulbs. It was decided that they bulbs that John Godby and Ghazanfar Ghori have are not Barclaya but a lotus, possibly African tiger lotus. Alysoun declared that she has the real Barclaya, which aroused whispers amongst the members.

Alysoun also brought along a large bag of Rotala wallichi from Totally Fish. Seeing it in such good shape, she had been unable to resist and the bought all they had. After some discussion, it was generally agreed upon to use it as the next plant for the Aquatic Horticulture Study. But since the board hadn’t decided upon this, the matter can be discussed online.

Some discussion regarding weather or not GWAPA should co-sponsor
Dr. Greg Morin from Seachem at the PVAS Fall Fish Festival. This matter will be discussed further online and be decided upon. There was also some discussion on having a field trip to Maryland Aquatic Nurseries something this summer. Rick took the responsibility to call them and get details and information.

We talked about having a beginners workshop sometime this fall. Nothing specific was decided but I suspect there will be some discussion about this online. Pierre, due to his ‘booming voice’ and ability to capture the
attention of an audience was volunteered into delivering the potential presentation. Too bad he wasn’t present to protest.

Alysoun will be getting in touch with Pierre to see if we can get a
Paypal account started. This should help in collecting dues.

Two new members joined GWAPA. Liz Mehok and Rodney Conaway.

The meeting then progressed to the mini auction.
The items sold were:
Hygrophila difformis
Ludwigia arcuata
Pearlweed
Vals
Daphnia
Babys Tears
Ammania gracilis
Hottonia plaustris
Lagarosiphon madagascarensis
Daphnia
Frogbit

No one got rich. GWAPA’s share was $6.25

Rotala wallichi was distributed to the members.

The next meeting will be on May 3d 2003. More details on that will be posted on the ‘Events’ section soon.

That concluded the March 2003 meeting.

The meeting was held Saturday, March 22nd 2003 at the home of Ali Khan.
