On June 21 2003, GWAPA visited Maryland Aquatic Nurseries. Six members
\nshowed up – not the greatest turnout, but I’m glad I was one of them.
\nThe weather was pretty good considering all the rain we’ve been getting
\nand it was fun walking around looking at all the plants species, a lot of
\nwhich you may also find in home aquaria. The grounds were a little
\nmuddy and I had to watch my step, least I slip and fall. Actually at
\none point (trying to take a picture) I almost lost my balance, and
\nwould have splash landed in one of the growing ponds if it were not
\nfor the years of training I recieved in elementary school on the
\nbalancing beam.<\/p>\n

I took a LOT of pictures – much to the annoyance of the other
\nGWAPA members – but who care about them anyway right?
\nI took the pictures so that some of you who couldnt make it
\nout there can see what you missed. So without further ado,
\nI give to you:<\/p>\n

THE MUDSHOE DAIRIES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nAha! PLANTS! Lemme at em! Lemme at em!!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nLook a frog!<\/p>\n

\nthese plants have is the first thing
\nyou notice!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/td>\n…and another one. Sorry I couldn’t
\nhelp it!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nParrots feather. TONS of it!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nJack found lots of frogs! Heres a
\ntiny one. Smaller than my finger nail!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nBacopa carolina. TONS of it!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nThe fish pens – AKA plant fertlizer.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nPotamogen crispus! There were several
\nother plants that were growing
\nsubmersed that I couldn’t take pictures
\nof, including horwort, ejeria densa, ejera sp., najas sp and vallisneria sp.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nHm. Here’s something interesing. It was
\nmarked ‘Red Rotala’. It looks like emersed
\ngrown rotala rotundafolia.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nA closer look at the ‘Red Rotala’ flower.
\nI’ll try and get a positive ID on it later
\nand this picture should help.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nBacopa monnerii AKA moneywort<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nHydrocotyle vulgaris? Hydrocotyle verticillata?
\nOne of those – it wasn’t labelled.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nHydrocotyle sibthorpioides? Nice stuff!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nHygrophila sp., possibly hygrophila salicaifolia?<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nOzelot swords! Very very nice!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\n…and a nice close up! <\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nEchinodorus sp. emersed and flowering!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\nRick just couldn’t resist buying something.

Thats all the pictures I have folks. I hope you enjoyed viewing them as much
\nas I enjoyed taking them. Doesn’t beat being there but I hope I was able
\nto show you some of it.<\/p>\n
