August 2009 Meeting

Monday, August 31st, 2009 at 3:52 pm

Michael Szesze hosted our August 22nd meeting at his home in Derwood, MD. Michael is the owner of, the leading provider of engaging educational materials that use carnivorous plants to promote environmental stewardship.

He gave us a wonderful tour of his facilities, and talked about carnivorous plants. He instructed us how to pot the sands in a peat/sand mixture so that the nitrogen content of the soil would not be too high. Amazingly, despite cool winters, Michael is able to run his business year-round using two greenhouses.
