Kevin Epps hosted GWAPA’s September meeting at his home in Silver Spring, MD. Sean Murphy and Dave Williams talked about using soil substrates in the planted aquarium. We had over 30 people show up on a rainy Saturday afternoon to pack into Kevin’s house. Sean and Dave gave a very informative presentation about Sean’s Mineralized Topsoil Substrate recipe that he’s used for over 15 years. The presentation included the basic recipe, as well as tank shots documenting how successful you can be with soil-based substrates. He also sold a few starter kits to folks interested in trying the substrate.

We also had another huge auction.
