Take a look here
http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/ ... invert.htm
tell us which one.
Interesting, I just read on another site that nerites have a life span of 2 to 5 years. I wonder how accurate that is.
These are all virgin nerites.

Aquascape? I'm a crypt farmer.
If you've got bait, I've got wasabi!
I wish I could be like Mr. Sarcastic when I grow up!

The "ribbed" ones look like the darker Neritina Vittina virginea from that link.
The "spiky banded" ones look like none of them on that site, I think they are clithon corona from this site:

That is the ribbed look on the other one. Color is close, not exact, but his shell in the pic looks beat up, that might be the difference.... but this is what I mean, ribbed.

I think your original snail was Clithon (diadema) souleyetana.

The guy on this site has some other interesting Neritidae as well if you scroll around. Might have to drop him a note.
All of my nerites look like Jeffs. The banding becomes much more visible as they get larger. I've had mine since a group order I think maybe 2 years ago now So I can attest they will live for several years.
From reasearch I've done, many of the genus Nerita are from tidal/brackish areas and could theoretically be converted to fresh water. I know Sean has successfuly converted virgin nerites, Neritina Vittina virginea. I've tried myself twice with some from TFP but couldn't get them to survive.
What I should do is do a group buy of virgin nerites from TFP, pick them up on the way to a GWAPA meeting and give them to Sean to convert.
Cheers.

Hey, just be glad I didn't type the message in my usual shorthand. It would have really raised a few eyebrows if I discussed picking up a group order of virgins for you to convert.
Cheers.
