brown "gak" on leaves

I've had an ongoing problem with brown dust accumulating on plant leaves...especially the large leaves. Often will brush off with a finger but sometimes seems to accumulate and ends up embedded in the surface of the leaf.

I've wondered all along if flourite just doesn't have a never ending supply of brown dust...even after rinsing it thoroughly 25 times in the tub...no kidding...25 times over a two hour period.

I'm using eco-complete in my next setup, but wondering if this brown stuff can be coming from anything else. Don't think it's algae...only seems to accumulate on the larger leaves rather than all over.

Any ideas??

Well, I get a brown dust if I overfeed black worms and they get pulled into my filter.. bzzzzz - instant shredded worms! Took me 4ever to figure out what it was! <img border="0" src="smileys/smiley9.gif" border="0">
