Any way to decrease KH, but not with using distilled water?

RO, DI, RO/DI, the TWP (an acid-base exchange resin) Kati-Ani (do they still make those? Also acid-base exchange resins). Or addition of acid will burn out the carbonates/bicarbonates (but may or may not raise the TDS, depending on the acid and the anions in the source water - things may ppt. out).

But the question is why? And how much? For plants it does not seem justified or beneficial.
RO, DI, RO/DI
Are all basically distilled water, so I don't want to mess with that. They've all had everything except the water taken out.

Some of the rain forrest plants like Tonina do well at very low KH's like as in 0 KH and low pH. My Tonina has been doing OK, but I want to lower my KH and see if it does better. I saw a tank in a pic yesterday where it was huge. I think it will help Eustralis too.

Might look for an exchange resin, but not sure it's worth the trouble.
