Is anyone keeping any wood shrimp? I'd love to hear
of your experience with them. They seem interesting and I want get a couple but I'd like to hear about them
first.

I'm a fan, but do not have any at the moment. I quit trying to kep them in my display tanks, as I did not get the best survival - they are very poor competitors for food, and I over-filter - double whammy. By themselves in a species tank, they are fine.

One of my favorite tank observations (good news/bad news type) was watching a female Amano releasing fry into an internal filter output flow...and watching the wood shrimp downstream snapping all four fans as if it were Christmas morning.

They are exceptionally clunky climbing around over the plants, but seem to do no damage to my plants by such activity. I'm uncertain if there would rearrangement or damage to very soft-stemmed plants.

The largest, presumably male, critter of several common types develops really nice color. In a 55 or larger you may have several with "dominant" color.

My best setup for them was 20long which was downstream of a Daphnia tank in the circulating range - they got all the flush-through excess critters, basic auto-feeding. Unfortunately it was on the floor so not a good observation spot.

I gotta get me some. The last time I checked,
they were going for $7-$8 each. Sound about right?

Last time I noticed I think it was more like $8-10+ out here, but they were good sized.

I don't know anuone who has bred any. Going to try?

Yeah I just picked up a couple of them yesterday.
Put them in my 46 and they promptly disappeared.

Look for them downstream of the filter output.

How can you sex wood shrimp?

BTW - one of mine is reddish in color. The other one
is still MIA.

How do you feed these filter feeders? I'm afraid of
starving them.
