How many CRS are ok in a 2.5g Minibow?

Post by seiji64 »

I won the core group of these CRS in one of our auctions from Jon. Thanks again Jon - these are awesome looking CRS! The 2.5g Minibow tank has Aquasoil, a Duetto Mini Internal filter, a few crypts and a big blob of mostly dead stringy moss that swallows up most of the tank space. The moss withered away after I removed the light from the tank when the temps started getting too high. These crypts are amazing for how little light they can survive off of. So at what point do I worry about overstocking on this tank?

Hi Viktor,
That's a small slice of boiled green bean.

I probably have 50 or more in a 2.5. But with that many they won't breed.
So I take out most of the adults except for a couple males and the berried females and soon there are another 50 or 100 microscopic babies. It seems to take about 2 months or so for them to get some size.

Good Luck.

Rick stole my answer! When you stop seeing babies its time to thin the herd :)
It is not murder if you're killing snails.

Cool, so we can expect the auctions in the coming months to be flood with thinned out CRS, right? ;-)

Crystal Reds were going for top $ at the auction yesterday?
I was giving them away in August, go figure.

We still have a bunch so Mary will probably bring some this weekend.

Congrats to Jen who sold her nano for bokoo dollars from what I heard.

Even java moss, java fern and val were going for shockingly high prices in the first half of the day. $30 - $40/ bag!!! Then those prices suddenly plumetted to around $8 around 2pm.

Not everyone has a GWAPA to grow plants and provide them for cheap prices.
Sometimes I wonder if it is worthwhile to bag up plants for a meeting.

Not that I grow them for the money but it is nice to be appreciated sometimes.
