Archie,

AC had these ~ 1 year ago... $20 a pop IIRC, John Wheeler had about eight of them, sold them to our LFS when the tank needed to be broken down, the store employees took them home <img border="0" src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0"> .. really cool fish, not sure if they are worth the price tho, they certainly don't eat more algae that normal ottos... You might need to order these from a catfish importer, I don't think it would cost much more than what you would see at the LFS... I'm just now getting to the point in my fishkeeping where I would begin consider spending this much on a rare import like this, it was out of the question a year ago...

Cheers,
Jeff

thanks for the feedback. I stopped by the AC today and got more japonica. They didn't have the zebras and the regular ottos were in quarantine. They were also out of fluorite. Monday they might be getting more in. they told me the affinis go for about $10/ea. I think I need about 6 to get good schooling behavior...Which brings me to my next inquiry: does anyone know what the min. number of cory aeneus is to get good schooling? I remember my other cories schooling with only 3.

Technically (scientific study) a minimum of 3 fish make a school, yes there is a study and published paper on this. Aesthetically, I like a school of 6 minimum.

My cories didn't act "right" until I had about 5 of them. Of course, there might be some correlation with the size of the tank (and the size of the cories I guess), but I wouldn't know where to begin on that topic.
