I'm on vacation, so what happens? You guessed it... Fry! My wife called me yesterday to tell me that I have at least 10 baby rams, from parents that hadn't shown any indication of being even slightly interested in each other until I go on vacation (I don't yet even know which of the two are the culprits, as my wife can't tell them apart enough for me to know from descriptions). Judging from descriptions my wife has given me, the two parents are being parents... Everything (including angels 5 times thier size) is cowering at one end of the tank, while the ram family has claimed the other end. Fry are always near mom and dad and duck into the fronds of java fern and pygmy chain sword whenever anything else comes by.

I kind of just tossed the rams in the tank when I bought them to see how they'd tolerate the angels and catfish. I really didn't expect them to do real well, let alone breed. I'm not even really sure what they are... They were sold as "Paradise Rams", but are probably just common blues. But, I now have at least 10 of them. :)

No pictures yet... I can't find the fry!

Unfortunately, my tank is pretty much a jungle due to lack of maintenance over the past three weeks, so the critters could be anywhere (assuming they didn't become someone's midnight snack). As soon as I can find them, I'll post them.

I'll definately be doing a major hack job on the tank this weekend, so if they're there I should know it by then.

Your wife is really nice to take care of your tanks for three weeks. My wife has done the same, but I can't seem to get her to join the club!

Who said anything about taking care of the tank? She was just looking. :) I tossed in a ton of watersprite before I left , cut the light cycle down a bit, and that's it.

pH dropped a bit by the time I got back and I've got a bit of algae on the glass, but other than that, it's all good.

BTW... no fry. I'm guessing they became catfish snack. :(
