Replanted 20 Gallon

Post by keeperofthefish »

This is the tank with the Flourite in. It's a start. I'm using the Flourish line of products now, and I'm going to hook up a DIY CO2 in the very near future. You can see all the bare space... as well as evidence of an earlier algae breakout thanks to the darn gravel tabs I was using. That will not happen again! Plant suggestions, or better yet donations, are welcome!

Your plants look nice and healthy so that's a good start. I would move the driftwood farther back from the glass to give a better illusion of depth. That sword plant, while nice looking, will eventually get way too big for that tank. If you come to the next meeting you will likely find more plants than you'll know what to do with. :)

Aqua Boy: I would certainly appreciate any trimmings! I live in Cleveland Park.

Aaron: thanks for the suggestions! That sword is a monster. I just hate to throw it away... Can you recommend a smaller species of sword to replace it?

It's just north of the zoo on the Red Line. I work near the corner of K and 18 Streets, NW. Thanks! I would appreciate any and all clippings, as I am always eager to try out a new plant!

There are not many small swords. Compacta and Kleiner Bar are the two that come to mind. Yes, that picture I posted of a huge sword was a kleiner bar, but they was abnormal growth due to poor conditions on my part.

Brian

I would be interested in getting some of your cuttings as well. I am in Herndon. I have a new 75 that I need to plant. Thanks....

If the sword gets too big for you I have a 120 gallon that it can move over to.

Thanks guys

FloridaDriftwood.com has a small sword called "Brown Sword" that is compact. It might be their e. puriensis.

Here is a picture
the very small swords on the right have grown nicely compact about 4 inches tall.
And that's a crypt balanese that has turned into a monster mother plant.
