That's a sundew, a carnivorous plant. They're very cool plants, but not aquatic unfortunately. :-)

It's a good thing he didi step on it, we would have never seen him again.

That is a cool plant and the first time I've ever seen one, Julie you have a nusery near your place that sells only carnivorous plants, including UG submersed and emergenteded too, that's for Cavan.

That would make a sweet and deadly riparium too, with UG, pitcher plant, venus fly traps, and a couple of sundews the stink bugs would have a chance.

Everything that I brought home is unpacked and either planted or floating. Hope I can turn it all into aquarium plantlife, except for that sundew.
