halak wrote: Tue Jan 17, 2023 7:36 pm Allen, just let me know if you are coming for sure, so that I bring you the soil.

Also, I will most likely bring chocolate chip cookies.
I will be there tomorrow so I will buy some soil.

Re: January Meeting

Anyone interested in isopods? I have overpopulating colonies of Dairy Cow Isopods (Porcellio laevis) and Zebra Isopods (Armadillium maculatum). I only request 5 dollars only to make myself feel better about paying 20 dollars each for the starters and then not doing anything with them. I will also be...

Re: January Meeting

I have a kangaroo foot fern I picked up at a reptile expo. One disclaimer is that the plant is probably going to be too large for most vivariums at full size. Is there any interest?

I should also mention that if I'm able to come to this meeting I'll buy a bag of platinum soil for real this time.

Re: Stores for DIY Materials

For the large grain sand, try Leslie’s Swimming Pool Supplies (Vienna)? I’ve bought turface from the Wolf Trap Nursery. I got confused when looking at Leslie's website because they listed their sand as HTH brand (the large grained version) but used a picture of the Aquaquarts fairmount brand (sugar...

Stores for DIY Materials

I have had trouble finding common materials used in DIY projects. It seems like many common things that other regions take for granted are not found in this region. This thread is for discussing mostly non Aquarium stores in the DMV region that carry some sort of substitute product for a lower price...

Re: Wabi-Kusa Workshop

I can bring you a flightless fruit fly culture for $10. I can probably bring you free microworms, too. Sounds good! Though I don't need an entire fruit fly culture as I already have containers and media. I just need some starter flies. However if it proves too inconvenient otherwise a full culture ...

Re: Wabi-Kusa Workshop

Does anyone have microworms, springtails, or flightless fruit fllies I could one way or the other obtain a starter from?

Also, if anyone is interested in isopods I have Dairy Cow Isopods (Porcellio laevis) and Zebra Isopods (Armadillidium maculatum) in excess.

Listed are the same ones I have. I currently also have Armadillidium Maculatum, very few Armadillidium Klugii, and some Atlantoscia floridana.
