Re: Advice on liquid micros?
Dry ferts are economical; you have CSM+B (chelated secondary mix plus boron) or millers microplex available from online merchants. I have always used CSM+B and I've never had anything grow in my bottles. I keep them in clear bottles in a cabinet. There is usually some sediment but it could be strain...

Re: Old T5HO Bulbs
I may do that. I've always found PPS Pro pretty easy to do. I prefer a regime that requires daily dosing.

Old T5HO Bulbs
Do old bulbs contribute to BBA? Mine are one year old, and I've been having issues with BBA in my 50 for months now. I've also altered my fert dosing regime at the start of the problem. I went from PPS Pro to EI, and I was also testing my NO3 and PO4 regularly and if those parameters were in the tar...

CO2 Refill Baltimore
I just got my 10 lb tank refilled yesterday at Roberts Oxygen, 1601 S. Caton Ave. Balt. $26.79 after tax. They let you swap your empty tank for a full one if you rather do it that way. On Aug 31, 2010 – I swapped out my 10 lb tank for a full one from Roberts Oxygen, on S. Caton Ave in Balto, for $22...

Re: Water Changes
The pocket hose didn't work; I had to use the 50 foot garden hose. I really wanted that thing to work because it is so portable and light. I think maybe the pump didn't provide enough force to expand the hose.

Re: Water Changes
I'll be using the hose next weekend with my pump submersed in the aquarium and pushing water out it. I'll post how it goes after I do my water changes. The siphon worked fine with a regular garden hose, but it's so heavy and bulky I wanted to give this other one a try. Impulse buying at Bed Bath and...

Re: Water Changes
I finally built a siphon, using 1/2 inch pvc pipe and fittings. The hardest thing was finding all the right pieces. Bought a cheap 250 gph pump from harbor freight, 50 ft hose and some PVC. I used it today and it worked great, but I bought another hose today, see below, it's much lighter and really ...
