Re: What substrate for water lilies?
Inert is just fine. Water Lilies are heavy feeders and do best with tabs or granules mixed into clay. I have a pile of soil in the yard I go to but bagged clay products work well. Just don't go for potting soil or top soil. To many organics and stuff that will float. I imagine that Sean's mineralize...

Re: Bubble counter setting
Thanks guys but you are complicating the question. Im aware that different bubble counters make different size bubbles which would correspondingly make the amount of CO2 injected different. I am also aware of the relationship between CO2, pH and carbonate hardness. I have the Barr chart and I'm curr...

Bubble counter setting
Hi all, Just curious if you use a bubble counter for CO2, how many bubbles per minutes do you set it at? Looking to see what people are doing out there. I assume it depends on the size of the tank as well. I have a 90 and I currently have it set at 120bpM (bubbles per minute). I'm thinking that is t...

Re: Large Sword
Thanks but I don't relish tearing it out of the tank at the moment. I do have some babies though I could sell you.

Large Sword
So I got a sword from the meeting a few months back. Not sure what type as it was unmarked. Looks kinda like a Melon sword. Long narrow stems with a large leaf at the top. It is growing really well and producing babies. The problem is its to tall. I have it in a 90 gallon tank so it has over twenty ...

Re: Cold water tank
Yeah no fish was the plan. Just shrimp and some type of plant. I have a list in one of my books that names several plants that can tolerate temperate conditions but nothing there is all that exciting.

Cold water tank
Hi all, I recently got a small, 2 gallon or so hex tank. No heater, filter, etc, just a 15 watt incandescent although I can get a 200 or higher LED bulb to replace it if needed. Trying to keep this uncluttered with equipment so I though a single specimen plant that can take temperate conditions, i.e...

Re: Whitish covering on cores
Thanks Josh and Linus Temperature in the tank is running about 81 now that it's summer so a little higher than the range you suggest. The water parameters look good except I did notice a up tic in the pH. It's about 7.2 while before it was running in the high 6's not sure why this happened but I won...
