Re: Heathers for big tanks
Wait, Damian rejoined the club, and COVID happened. I knew it was all fake, but I didn't realise it was all fake to avoid Damian. For anyone else, it would seem a bit extreme, but ... for Damian, this is an appropriate response. ;) I would second anyone who says get a redundant controller. I don't k...

Re: Are video or zoom meetings taped?
As a speaker, there's a real concern about having talks recorded. It removes the incentives of members attending meetings, and it removes the incentive of clubs having a speaker out; though neither is relevant currently, we hope that this is all temporary. I would hate to find out that the 5-6 talks...

Re: homalomena
I have it in a couple of tanks. Kind of reminds me of a "Brazilian Sword," a peace lily, except it doesn't, y'know, die in a week from being grown underwater. However, they don't seem to grow, either. Just sorta maintains.

Re: July Meeting - Tank Tour Volunteers Needed!
Wondering if hosts should get together and do a Zoom call Friday evening or some such, so we all can figure out how it works well.

Re: June Meeting
Can everyone share what food they'll be making for the meeting, please?
You'll be eating it yourself, but, still.

Re: Scratches in Aquarium Glass
Personally, I won't use low iron glass. I think it's foolish in the extreme to use it. Oh, aren't you lucky, your glass is super clear, so now you can see right through into your super not clear water. Who cares? Its softer than regular glass, so it scratches incredibly easily, thus you're combining...

Java Fern -- ARGH?
So, I had a brain fart today, and couldn't remember how to spell pteroptus. I googled the scientific name for Java fern, and found something interesting.... Apparently, the genus for Java fern is no longer Microsorum -- the genus has been merged into Leptochilus ... There's been some ongoing debate ...

Re: [HELP] - NOVA Aquarium Stand Construction Tomorrow
I am with Tim on this -- a planer would be great if the wood you used was not flat, but I don't think it would be an appropriate tool if the surface your created was not flat (if that makes sense).

Re: Alternative to impellers in canister filters
All filters are going to use an impeller to push water -- I don't know of any other design that can do it. Your Fluval 405 should be pretty quiet, though the '06 is better. You want to check a couple of things. Make sure there's not an air bubble in there; that'll make a rattle. Take the impeller ou...
