Previous update was photographed back in march and I have to say that slight changes had a huge impact on growth and the quality of plants. Unfortunately still no flowers :( Check out Part 1 and Part 2 in my blo...

Jay, How big is this container? I've been looking for something similar, but I can't find anything that is that big. However, maybe I am over estimating the size because it is hard to tell from the pic. Can you give an idea of height and diameter of the top? Ben Ben, Sorry, I missed your question. ...

As a side note, I purchased my lilies from great nursery and had them prep it for me. All the other misc plants were purchased from local Lowes for about ~$5 each and I left them in the same soil / container they came in. Keep in mind that I added 1-2 root tablets into each plastic pot. I came from ...

Lots of blooming there ! Do you keep them in the same room ? As for as lens ... You are welcome :) I doubt you need any extension tubes. Those can be leveraged for insect photography but not for orchids unless you want to create something artistic. I want to see entire flower in focus to enjoy the b...

I think Jay was talking about the actual focal point, which in this case he feels is the belly. Assuming Jeff was trying to get the eye in focus as is the norm in this situation, he may have been to close to the fish for the lens to focus properly - every lens has a minimum focus distance that must...

Thank you, the tetra is cropped a fair amount, it think its a little OOF Jeff, It look more like DOF rather then OOF problem. I'm not familiar with your body / lens setup but it looks like you locked the focus on the belly and with tight DOF, eye and tail will obviously be OOF. Taking couple steps ...

Thanks all for your comments ! You can use any container. Whiskey barrel or standard small pond containers are available in Home Depot, Lowes or at your local Pond shop. Although visually I enjoyed containers that I had last season, I want to do something more interesting this time around. Different...
