Re: New tank stand

Thanks Kris. For now, I'm going to allow some time for the tank to cycle and for the plants grow a bit more. Will post more pics soon.

Re: New tank stand

Although it's taking longer than expected, I have made some progress with 5.5g setup. Unlike when I was in the club several years ago, I see an abundance of different plants available online. I ordered and received 20+ small, but healthy, rhizomes of Anubias nana petite, and two golf ball size java ...

Re: BBQ Lava Rock, Super Glue for Aquascaping

I got this lava rock from Lowes today. Unfortunately, the landscape lava rock was only in red. This stuff is a mix of orange, gray, and black. I prefer the darker rocks and the smaller size better scales to my 5.5g. Also, what is the technique for gluing Java Moss to lava rock or manzanita wood? lav...

Re: BBQ Lava Rock, Super Glue for Aquascaping

It’s been several years since I’ve attended the Catfish Convention. The auction is a lot of fun. Unfortunately previous commitments. After thinking about it, I’ve decided to buy the plants on eBay. It’s convenient and I can get exactly what I want in the right quantities. In regards to the lava rock...

Re: BBQ Lava Rock, Super Glue for Aquascaping

Thank you for the replies. I'm was planning on using this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/American-Fire-Glass-Medium-Black-Lava-Rock-1-2-in-1-in-10-lbs-Bag-LAVA-M-10/304078190?MERCH=REC-_-rv_gm_pip_rr-_-304078190-_-304078190-_-N . Another somewhat unrelated question... Does the club use or recommend a ...

BBQ Lava Rock, Super Glue for Aquascaping

I'm curious to know if anyone has used the bagged BBQ lava rock from home improvement centers in their tank? I was thinking about using a few pieces in my 5.5g nano. Also, I've read that Super Glue gel is a good way for attaching plants to rocks and wood. Has anyone tried it? Is there another glue t...

New tank stand

Happy to be a member of GWAPA again. I had hoped to make it to the meeting last weekend but I instead used the nice weather to build this tank stand. It is sized to hold a 40g breeder on top and a 20g long on the bottom. It's just basic 2 by 4 and plywood construction so it was inexpensive but easil...

Re: Hello from a former member.

BTW, has anyone tried growing Lysimachia nummularia (aka Creeping Jenny)? I've had it growing in my garden for years and never knew it can also be an aquatic plant. A few weeks ago, I plucked a stem and put in my tiny desktop tank and its seems to be doing fine and it looks nice too. If I make it to...

Re: Hello from a former member.

This is what I have so far. As you can see I have not done anything yet but I'm pretty excited about getting it set up and planted. Maybe I'll bring it to the meeting if that's ok.
