Anchoring down driftwood?

Post by Larry Grenier »

Any of you folks do your own attaching slate to driftwood? Where do you get the slate pieces? Masonry drill? Superpetz in Annandale has great pieces but the stuff won't sink after months in water.

I have used slate to anchor driftwood down. I learned the hard way that you can't silicone it to slate. I used that reef epoxy made for stacking live rock and attatching corals.

So did you get a real flat piece of slate and cut one end of the driftwood to make a flat surface and epoxy them together?

Yeah, I used that slate like landscapers use for paving stones. My neighboor had some broken pieces lying around her backyard that she gave me.
