While perusing the latest from TomsHardwareGuide I stumbled over this. So I’m thinking, I run an overclocked box and heat is always an issue, and the radiator piece is plastic and copper. Remove the fan, extend the lines and pop in the sump. Water is better then air when exchanging heat, what can go wrong?

I have a watercooled PC, best thing about it is the no-leak quick disconnects. My cpu core wasn't very good to start with, flickers pushed me back down to 2.4. I had it stable at 2.88 for quite some time, but had to back it down. Supposed to dissapate max 200 watts, never done the math but my cpu doesn't go above 37C.

Scunge!

I get scunge in my 3/8" filter lines on a fairly regular basis... even the ones under the stand with no reasonable source of light. I suspect the scunge is combination of diatoms and regular tank leftovers... food, biologically processed food and who know what else.

I'd expect a much smaller line from the PC Cooler to clog up pretty quickly.

I can also imagine an MTS or two getting jammed up in there pretty good and blocking the line (and then cooking on a toasty CPU).

Just my two cents. I wouldn't try it on a PC I cared about... But I would try it. :)

Yeah,

Running a watercooling loops with tank water ruins your water block. Also, the 'scunge' basically eliminates any benefit you would have with heat transfer. Apparently this stuff works as a nice insulator.

No, one look at the lines going to one of my filters pretty much nixed the idea. Way to much "scunge" buildup.
