If you need two for the setup - one of each for optimum color. If you only need one then Sean's answer would suffice. :) Or choose wether you want a yellow or blue tint to you tank respectively.

Sounds like you guys are saying intensity is more important than spectrum. In that case I think I'll use my old 400 watt black light ;-)

Well, spectrum only matter so much. So long as you stay in the 5,500K to 10,000K range any bulb will grow plants well enough. It's really a matter of the look you are going for.

I am personally a fan of 10,000K bulbs or those 6700K/10,000K jobs by CurrentUSA.

I also tend to go towards the dark green plants and like them to have a slightly blue tinge more than a slightly yellow tinge.

I've used both spectum bulbs listed in the original question. I haven't seen a difference in plant growth. Like you are hearing from everyone, it comes down to what level of 'whiteness' you want from the bulb and how much you want to spend.

Oh, use your black light if you must, but we didn't suggest it. :?

Well... The black light comment was just me being a smart-a__. I perfer the 10000k crisp white. Thanks folks.
