Clown Loach

Post by jcali10 »

I bought a clown loach last Saturday, and put him in my 75G with 6 koi angels, and 8 high fin black tetras. He seems to be doing really well. He likes to swim with the tetras. He's only about 3 inches now, I've heard they can grow to about 5-6 inches in an aquarium, and 10-12 inches in the wild. Is there anything I should be worried about? I'm thinking about picking up another one.

Clown loaches are great when they're small. They turn into whales though, and can uproot plants later on. They're great for snacking on snails though!

Mine was a bit hard on my scape when it grew up. Kept knocking my woodwork apart and uprooting Anubias, Java fern, and some Crypts trying to hide in plants half as big as it was.

Cheers.

I guess I'll just enjoy him while he's still small and try to rehome him later if necessary. He can't do much harm now, scape is rather simple since it is a low light non-co2 tank right now. Only 2 of the 4 bulbs in my Catalina fixture work.
