What to do with Malaysian Trumpet Snails

Post by chris_todd »

Jen, here's the picture to go with your sig ("It's not murder if you're killing snails"):

Here's what I was trying to kill:

There's probably more snail shells than substrate now. For folks that have been to my house, that was my 90 gallon planted South American tank. And it is now completely empty.

Oh, and MTS are tough - quite a few survived the first 2-3 cups of bleach, and we had to dose it again.

Awww... Mike likes snails. He feeds them to his puffers.

Not sure. Might sell it, might put it in storage. Need to get it out of the room it's in because we need to rip up all the carpet in the basement. Either way, it won't be setup again for a couple of months in all likelihood.

You should just toss that gravel. Nothing kills those things completely.

Once you go Dutch you can't stop trimming.

@Jen: the ones I got from you have lived by themselves in the 37g in my dining room for quite some time. The two Hans Discus I still had left after a heater malfunction are now in the 75g tank.

@Frannie: yeah, scooped it out and it's headed for the dump.
