The two best sources I've found for this have been Chuck Gadd's site:

<a href="http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_algae.htm" target="_blank">http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_algae.htm</a>

and Ghazanfar's site (with pictures) at:
<a href="http://www.aquaticscape.com/articles/algae.htm" target="_blank">http://www.aquaticscape.com/articles/algae.htm</a>

Hope this helps!

It seems as though I have my first algae starting in my tank. I think it is the beard algae. Is there a quick fix to this before it starts taking over. It seems as though it is starting to cover my bog wood. =( I have two 96 watt bulbs and I run them for about 8 hours a day. (I also need to confirm that my timer is working correctly.) I have also gotten tiny, tiny spots on the glass that I just comb off with the magnet cleaner. No problems there. Any thoughts...I have put the Flourish and Excel into the tank to give the plants a boost...maybe I don't need this? My Nitrate levels are very low! :?:

Can you describe the algae in more detail? Color? Does it remove manually easily? Pictures would help too if you can.
