I am getting ready to set up a biotope for my altums angels and a few other local fish...
Need some help with suggestions on plants that would be endemic to this sort of scape.
Also, was planning on using #3 gravel and sand mix...
Unless someone can tell me differently

i believe there is little to no vegetation where they come from, like lots of wood and some vallisnerias..clay kinda substrate. could be wrong, ask Barber ::D

Yes, Damian, actually, I have some already.(I have 7 F-1's) ... been growing them out for some time now, in a 55 and getting ready to move them to a 125....
They are quickly outgrowing the 55 so it is time for the move.
In fact, I did go to Utube myself, and started watching some of the videos to see..... and as suspected, not much for plants, so I am going to keep my tank sort of basic, but I "have" to put some green in it....
Also, thinking of putting a school of cardinals in there with them....

I think F1's probably won't be as picky with water quality, in my "blackwater" tank, I use Seachem Renew to take Phosphates out, Brightwell also has some options. If you want to put some green, you can use some low light plants, but if you want them to help with water quality, I would suggest some fast growers, that aren't picky. Needle Leaf Java Fern being one of my favorites, even though It won't grow as fast. Or sticking a Photos on corner will help a lot too.
