Linus' Lotus

Post by Linus_Cello »

Lotus starting to bloom (a different one started a few days ago, but forgot to take a pic).
These, I think, are Golden Autumn and Jade Tower with Drunkard (both from 10 mile creek; Tim, I think I gave you either Golden Autumn or Green Clouds)

Looking good. I have the one you gave me in a pot and it seems to be getting going. My other two are looking good and sending up a bunch of flower stalks. Ill take some photos when they open.

Some more pics. The two pink flowers are a different plant from the one I posted earlier. Now I'm thinking that the pink lotus I posted earlier is not "Jade Tower with Drunkard" but "Chastity." I guess I have two "Chastity" that I divided last year and forgot. I'll try to find the tag.

The old white flower is Tulip Shirokunshi (I keep forgetting to take a "new" flower pic). The double white is again Golden Autumn.

Somebody cut leaf stems down to the ground on my lotus. Do I need to seal the stem tubes? How?

I don't think you need to seal the stem tubes. When you say "somebody" was this a human, or do you think an animal? If the latter, you may want to put the lotus in something a little deeper and wider so it's harder for a marmot/woodchuck to get to to eat the leaves.

Thanks! I was told that part of the plant would die if it got filled with water. It was a knife-happy human who trimmed the leaves.

Another pic of tulip (fresher flower), and I think scarlet peach, and Pink Lotus of Laofu
