Scales TFW - Grand Opening Reception

Post by krisw »

I received this on the CCA list, and since GWAPA members are also invited, here's the text of the invite:
Scales Tropical Fish Warehouse cordially invites the memberships of
the Potomac Valley Aquarium Society, Capital Cichlid Association,
Greater Washington Aquatic Plants Association and Chesapeake Area
Killifish Club to a reception at our newly-opened aquarium store.
This invitation is exclusive to members of these clubs and family
and friends of the staff. The reception will be on Sunday, March 5
from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Dress is casual, light refreshments will be
served. We are eager to share the fruits of our labor with our
fellow aquarium hobbyists who propelled our interest in the hobby.
We look forward to seeing you Sunday evening!

I went to it. The store is very nice. Of the 7 aisles of tank, he only have 4 of them going. Right now, he's doing very well on the cichlids, and some of the community fish. There are definitely a few fish there that you'll see, that you've never heard of. His saltwater section still isn't setup. His plant section is a work in progress. He's still in the process of finding a reliable plant wholesaler.

Overall, it's good store, and Andrew will give you service that rivals the best of stores. It might take a few months for him to get everything running, but I'm definitely happy to have it as the closest store to my house. You ought to check it out, if you're ever in the area.

How about dry goods like ferts and such? Did he have a fair amount? I could use a few things and would give him my business first.

He does have ferts. Not dry ferts, but most of the Seachem and Kent lines. It's the only place I've seen Seachem Trace, verses just Flourish. He also has Flourite and Eccocomplete in stock. Plenty of foods, filters, heaters, usual stuff like that. He does have a display of bulbs, but I didn't look closely to see what brands/types he has.

If you go, make sure you ask him about the GWAPA scaped, display tanks. He didn't have them up just yet, but showed me where they'll be.
