rodcon00 wrote:Mike I really want to get beyond Richmond before stopping, this mornings happenings on I-95 show what can happen if there is major traffic problem. BTW the right hand lane on I-95 south near Ladybird requires repair from this mornings accident. I hope it is completed by Thursday morning.

My guess is that if we drive non-stop we will hit Wilson, NC around 10am. I would be up for BBQ if they are open that early.

We have our cell phones to keep in touch on I-95 until we meet up. The Family Radios are for when we are far from main highways collecting in Florida.
OK with me to push out of VA. They open at 0900. I'll give you directions when we talk while on the road.

Soon my friend we will be on our way to discover fish we will not even be able to identify without you being present.

In your honor I will randomly refer to unknown fish as being some kind of Sunfish, Killi, or Swamp darter. :)

Good call!

Who needs the Guide to North American Freshwater Fishes? Seems down south everything is either a sunfish, minnow, or Killi.

Cheers.

I purchased a field guide for the trip. It even lists the canals where different species can be found. Even a canal that has a population of croaking gouramis.

Any rare and exotic species not found in the field guide will be labeled C. seanii

I have not heard anything for this trip but I doubt anything will be different this time around. :(

The only thing we may be able to do is get a picture of one if they have any.
Or if Kris has his way - we'll have a picture of him stomping on one.

I have learned two things on this trip.

1. Drought is bad for plant collecting (worst drought in 30 years).
2. So far, Kris caught the most memorable fish.
